Octavo. 48 pp. Tissandier, who was editor-in-chief of the journal "La Nature," gives instructions for optical toys (magic lanterns, shadow-plays, Chinese shadow-silhouettes, etc.), indoor menageries and gardens, balloons and kites, experiments in physics and meteorology, knitting with paper, and other crafts and instructive amusements. Every page has delicate illustrations or pictorial borders in color lithography, showing animals, birds, equipment and toys, and children busily engaged. One corner bumped, some wear to spine ends, else fine, in an unusual pictorial binding of silk brocade printed in gold, black, and red, with a spine of pale-blue silk.
